From Stone to Flesh: Standing in the Gap for Young Souls

"I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh." — Ezekiel 36:26

Some of our young people are taking lives without remorse. Others are losing theirs to drugs, weapons, and choices they were too young to understand.

Every life taken by violence cuts off one destiny and stalls another. The one who is killed never gets to walk out what God wrote for them. The one who kills is left bound by guilt and consequence, with their purpose on hold. That is the enemy's plan: two destinies, one act.

But God. Where there is a repentant heart, He restores. Moses killed a man and spent forty years in the wilderness before God used him (Exodus 2:12; Acts 7:30).

Paul stood by at Stephen's death and became an apostle (Acts 7:58; 8:1).

Forgiveness doesn't always erase the consequences, but it never cancels the purpose. The enemy wants the stall to become the ending. Mercy says it doesn't have to.

Life Insurance or Eternal Assurance?

So many young souls have been taken in a moment. We don't know if God revealed Himself to them before their last breath. We do know His mercy is great. The thief on the cross found it in his final hour (Luke 23:42-43). But no one is promised that hour.

Life insurance covers the funeral. Only Jesus covers eternity.

Don't wait for a funeral to talk to the young people in your life about Jesus. Ask them if they know Him.

Don't assume. If they don't, lead them in this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I believe You are the Son of God, that You died for my sins, and that God raised You from the dead. Forgive me and wash me clean by Your blood. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I give You my whole life today. In Jesus Name. Amen.

The Testimony

I have to be honest with you. Years ago, I got into a confrontation with a gun in my coat pocket. I never pulled it out, but I gestured that I was carrying only for them to back off.

But in my youth, the spirit of murder had tried to attach itself to me. What if something had been said that angered me enough to use it?

That's how it happens. Not by planning, but in a moment.

If it could happen to a grown woman, how much more to a young person with no one covering them in prayer? And if you've been where I was, you are not alone. Many of us have had a close call we don't talk about.

The Spirit Behind the Behavior

"For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers." — Ephesians 6:12

Behind the behavior is a spirit. So we pray at the root, and we pray out loud:

I bind and break the spirit of murder, violence, and rebellion operating through some of our young people, in the Name of Jesus.

I break every enticement from gangs and peers saying, "Come with us." They shall not consent (Proverbs 1:10-16).

I break the spirit of murder that attaches itself to weapons in young hands. In the heated moment, they will pause and be slow to wrath (James 1:19).

I decree that every heart of stone is replaced with a heart of flesh.

Cover Them with the Blood

Jesus already paid the price. We are not begging God to do what the Cross accomplished. We have authority to decree and command in His Name (Luke 10:19; Job 22:28).

I plead the blood of Jesus over their minds, hearts, bodies, and futures.

Every assignment of premature death against them is cancelled by the blood of the Lamb.

Every spirit of darkness holding them captive, let them go, in the Name of Jesus.

The little ones coming behind them are covered, and every plan to recruit them is cut off.

The People and the Poison

Pray for the people who shape them. Ask God to raise up godly men, fathers, grandfathers, coaches, and mentors to show young men true manhood (Malachi 4:6).

Pray that mothers' eyes are open to changed behavior and that they have the courage to act. Pray for caring teachers, and for friends who lead them toward life.

And pray over what they take in.

In September 2026, two University of Mississippi students died on the same day, and kratom bought from a local store was found in both investigations. Dangerous products reach young hands too easily.

I expose every laced pill, tampered vape, and hidden poison before it reaches their hands, and I break the pull of addiction.

I expose witchcraft introduced to children as harmless play, and I close every door it opened.

Jesus said if believers drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them (Mark 16:18). Anything deadly hidden in what they take has no power over them.

To the Parent Who Has Lost a Child

There are no words big enough for your pain, and God has not turned His face from you. Lay down the guilt that was never yours to carry, and please don't grieve alone. He gives beauty for ashes (Isaiah 61:3).

To the Parent Whose Child Is Behind Bars

Some of your children may be behind bars for life. But their lives are not over in God's eyes. Even if they never walk free in the natural, they can be set free in the spirit. Keep writing, visiting, and praying. Don't let shame keep you hidden.

The Watchmen Are Asleep

Most of the Body of Christ is asleep while young souls turn to other gods or walk away from faith altogether. But people are not our enemy. Jesus died for every soul. Our answer is not condemnation. It is intercession, love, and the Gospel.

The Measure: Stand Watch

Wake up in the secret place. We can't stand watch running off of fumes.

Take up a name. Cover specific young people in the Blood by name every day.

Stay on the wall. Set a time to pray and keep it.

Listen before you preach. Young people want to be heard, not judged.

Lead them to assurance. Ask them if they know Jesus.

Gather the watchmen. Find or start a weekly prayer gathering for this generation.

Say it out loud: This generation belongs to God, not to the enemy. Our young people shall live and not die, and declare the works of the Lord (Psalm 118:17). Every heart of stone is becoming a heart of flesh.

Closing Prayer

Father, forgive us who were sleeping while the enemy sowed tares. Wake us up and grace us to stay on the wall. Comfort the grieving, reach the ones behind bars, and draw every young soul to Jesus Christ. You are merciful and forgiving. Let this generation know they have eternal life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
