Called to Write, Called to the Church
2 Peter 1:10-11 (GNT)
[10] So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away. [11] Then God will give you a grand entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
For years, I didn't know — without a shadow of a doubt — what I was called to do. But I could sense it wasn't mediocre. I didn't know what it was, but I knew what it wasn't. I had been taught and discipled into becoming a usable, submissive servant of the Most High God.
When I was a babe in Christ, God used a woman of God, Minister Denise Fountain, to deliver a word to me about my writings. I don't even know if I was writing at the time. But she said God told her that my writings would carry an anointing — and that's where my wealth would be. I didn't doubt it. I received it by faith. But I asked Him, "How is that possible, Lord? I'm not educated. I dropped out of high school." This was years before social media even existed. But as I grew in God, I unconsciously began to write — little posts, here and there.
Then in 2019, when the pandemic hit, I was introduced to someone on Facebook whose book caught my attention. He became a mentor, and that led me to write my first book. It took almost two years to publish, because I got off course chasing something that wasn't God's will. But it taught me obedience — and it taught me to acknowledge God in all my ways.
That first book was a test run. After I published it, God told me to go back and revise it. I didn't do it when He spoke those words, so I'm still not sure whether that was the season for it or not. But my heart has transformed since then. I had about eight unfinished manuscripts lying dormant for years — until 2025, when I finally went back and revised the first book while finishing all of the others. And He even added one more, which came to me so fast I wrote nearly half of it in a matter of hours.
Now I see clearly what He has called me to do. And I know I have to keep a pure heart to minister to whom I'm called to reach: the Church. Every book I write deals with what we're missing as the Body of Christ — the things we overlook, the little foxes, the matters of the heart, the renewing of our minds. The "as long as I'm going to Heaven" mindset that lets everything else slide. But God wants us whole and delivered. He wants us available, usable, and prepared for His use.
2 Timothy 2:21 (NKJV)
[21] Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
When I chose to be obedient in what God called me to do, the anointing was restored — and it's stronger now than it was in my first book. My spiritual eyes and spiritual senses are aligned with Heaven when I write. The books reveal themselves to me as I go — starting with nothing more than a sentence, or a paragraph.
So whatever God has called you to do: let go of your ability, let go of your intellect, and let the Divine Helper do it through you.
Amen.
Thanks to Minister Denise Fountain and Apostle Adam White for stirring the gift of writing within me. Forever Grateful!
