If You Want to Be Kept
A Word for Women of God Who Are Battling in Singleness
I can't speak for men — but women of God, if you're struggling with singleness, and every now and again you find yourself in a sexual encounter, I want you to know this: you can carry your desires to God. We are powerless when we choose to remain in the flesh. But we don't have to stay there.
In 2009, my second marriage ended — a marriage I had walked into on my own terms, without acknowledging God or seeking His direction. When it was over, I made a vow. I told the Lord: " Don't allow me to enter another relationship until I am whole, and until my relationship with You is where it needs to be.
For years, my daily prayer was simply this: Lord, keep me.
And He did.
He has kept me since 2009 — not because I am strong, but because He is faithful when I bring my weakness to Him. Today, I don't have to fight that fight anymore. He has made me whole and content in celibacy and singleness. And I believe He can do the same for you.
What's Really Keeping You in the Cycle
Many of us aren't whole — and that's what keeps us returning to fornication and adultery. We're trying to fill a void that only God can fill. We're looking for love, validation, and comfort in places that were never designed to give us what we truly need.
Don't believe the lie that you can't help it, or that your desire is too strong. That is the enemy keeping you in bondage. He wants you to believe you're a slave to your flesh. But you are not. You are more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus.
Stop trying to fight this battle in your own strength. You will lose every time. But when you yield to the Spirit — when you stay in the Word, guard your eyes and your thoughts, and cut off the situations and people who trigger temptation — that's when His keeping power activates.
What to Do Instead
Pray for strength, healing, and deliverance from damaged emotions. Ask God to help you wait on the husband He has ordained for you. Singleness is not a punishment — it is a season of prayer, consecration, and preparation. It is the time God uses to make you a wife before you are found.
Bring it to the secret place. Be honest with God about what you're feeling, what you're craving, what you're battling. He already knows — and He is not shocked, and He is not disappointed. He is waiting for you to surrender it so He can deliver you from it.
You can do all things through Christ — and that includes celibacy.
But Only If You Want to Be Kept
Here is what I need you to hear clearly: God will keep you, but only if you want to be kept.
If you're playing around the edges — entertaining thoughts, feeding your flesh with what you watch and listen to, putting yourself in compromising situations — you are not positioning yourself to be kept. You are positioning yourself to fall.
But if you are serious about consecration, serious about purity, serious about becoming the woman God is preparing you to be — He will absolutely keep you.
Surrender it to Him. Daily. Hourly, if you have to. And watch Him keep you.
Even in our weakness, the power of His strength given to us is far greater.
Amen.
