Close the Door and Seek the Kingdom

On Obedience, Impatience, and Trusting God with the Plan

When God tells you to close a door — close it. Speedily, without delay, and without doubt.

That sounds simple. But anyone who has been in that moment knows it is anything but. Because closing the door God is pointing to often means walking away from something that looks good, feels comfortable, or has already cost you something to build.

And yet the longer we delay obedience, the more we pay for it.

The Cost of Going Ahead of God

I can only speak from my own experience here. And my experience has been this: every time I got impatient and moved ahead of God, I made a mess. Every. Single. Time.

We suffer needlessly when we refuse to apply the Word to our life decisions. God is not withholding direction from us — He is waiting for us to ask, to trust, and to be still long enough to receive it.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

I have lost thousands of dollars jumping on opportunities that looked right but were not ordained for that season. The door was open — but God did not open it. Or perhaps He did open it, just not yet. Not then. And because I wanted what I wanted when I wanted it, I walked through before my time and paid the price.

Not every open door is a God door. And not every good opportunity is a right-now opportunity. We must learn to pray and ask God to let us see people and situations without the masks — to reveal what is truly behind what we are being presented with.

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

You Carry Favor — Know Who You Attach To

Here is something the Lord showed me that changed the way I move: when you are a child of the Kingdom, you carry favor. And that favor does not just rest on you — it extends to everyone attached to you, regardless of their motives.

That means when you connect yourself to people or places outside of God’s timing, you are literally pouring your Kingdom favor into assignments He never sanctioned. Everything they touch gets blessed because of the blessing on your life — not because they earned it, but because you brought it with you.

So when God says close the door and separate — take your favor with you. Shake the dust off your feet and keep moving.

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.”

Do not leave your blessing behind in a place God is calling you out of.

Repent, Receive, and Let Him Restore

I have had to repent for trusting in man to get me somewhere faster than God intended. For believing that the right connection or the right opportunity could shortcut what only obedience and timing could produce. God gives you the power to get wealth — not man.

Yes, He uses people. He sends destiny helpers. But you have to ask Him who, when, and where — and then wait until He sends them, not when you find them yourself.

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”

And when you repent and close the doors that were never His — watch what He does. Like the loving, merciful, gracious Father that He is, He will dust off the residue, bandage your brokenness, and restore you so completely that it will be as if it never happened.

What a mighty God we serve.

Seek the Kingdom First — Everything Else Follows

Some will say: “But I see people prospering without serving God.” And the Word has an answer for that too:

“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?”

Temporary prosperity outside of God is not the goal. Eternal abundance inside of His will is. And that abundance — the kind that does not come with sorrow, the kind that does not require you to chase it — is only available through obedience to the Kingdom.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

You will never have to chase a bag, a marriage, or a business when you are living inside the will of God. Die to your own will. Purpose in your heart to be obedient to the call and the assignment He has placed on your life. And watch everything else align.

“Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”

We have been so consumed with the cares of this life that we have excluded God from everything. And now we wonder why lawlessness and wickedness are roaming the earth like never before.

The answer has always been the same.

SEEK THE KINGDOM.
